The Centre for Community Oncology (CCO) was conceptualized with a focus on community-centered activities that have a direct bearing on cancer control in the region. Cancer prevention with a focus on primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention form the research nucleus of the centre. As such, our activities primarily focus on fostering impactful research in the area of cancer prevention and control and also to facilitate the output of quality publications and research grants.
Dr Suma Nair, coordinator of the Centre for Community Oncology is instrumental in spear- heading the various research and community- engagement activities associated with the Centre. A researcher at heart, her fields of expertise includes Epidemiology, Research Methodology, Systematic Reviews and cancer screening. Her other research interests include Cancer Screening with focus on Breast cancer, malaria and TB control, maternal and child Health and technology in health. She is a member of various research organisations including Cochrane Breast Cancer Review Group and Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM).
